Your computer works slow and slow than before. Chiefly maintenance of your operating system (Windows) is responsible for the slow computer speed. The important part of this maintenance is to remove or delete unnecessary files time to time from your hard disk.

Why unnecessary files store in our computer

When we install software in the computer then temporary files store in our computer which should automatically delete but sometimes this not happen.

When we use internet some files store in Cache of browser. Web browser stores many webpages in the computer so that next time browser can show the webpages without loading from internet.

We download wallpapers, songs, videos and other things from internet but we don't see about the size of these files.

We should uninstall those software which we are not using. When we install software, some software makes log files.

Email attachments files, we download and see the files but we forget to delete them.

People use different type of fonts, they install fonts but forget to uninstall them after their work finish.

When we delete files, these files goes to recycle bin and store in the recycle bin.

Unnecessary software and files effect speed and performance of our computer. Unnecessary files (Data) take space of hard disk and fragment them. Some software automatically runs when we start the computer. These software make processor busy and our computer works slow.

There are many software to delete unnecessary files, clean registry and improve the data storage pattern of hard disk but windows has utility to do this.

Remove unnecessary files

Step 1. Open disk cleanup tool, click on Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > Disk Cleanup.

Step 2. It will ask you the name of drive which unnecessary files you want to remove.

Step 3. When you will select a drive this tool will calculate and tell you how much space will empty removing the files like downloaded program files, temporary internet files, recycle bin etc. Select any option from the dialogue box according to your need. If you have any confusion about the deleted files you can check the files going to delete by clicking on View Files or View Pages option. After this click ok and remove the files.

Step 4. Click on Cleanup system files button in this tool. This remove those files which are created by windows and you are not using.

Step 5. Click on the second tab (More Options) of this tool. This delete those softwares which you do not use. Press Clean Up button and delete unnecessary softwares.

Step 6. You can remove unnecessary softwares from control panel. Open Control Panel and click on Add/Remove Programs icon. Here you can see the list of installed softwares in your computer. Click the software you want to uninstall and click Uninstall button.

Step 7. Go to Windows/Fonts folder and select unnecessary files of fonts and delete them.

Step 8. You have removed unnecessary files now its time to clean registry. You can use a free tool to clean registry.

Step 9. Check emails which is present in the Outlook express or Microsoft outlook and delete such emails which you will not use. Specially check those emails which have attachment.

You can use Disk Defragment to organize hard disk. To do this Right click on any drive and click Properties > Tools and click on Defragment Now.

Restart your computer, you will see changes in your computer speed.

Restore Computer and Solve Windows Problem

I am going to tell you about System restore. This is a good service in windows. You can use this option to make your computer like before. You can use System restore easily.

Step 1.  If you uses windows XP, restart your computer and press F8 and start your system in safe mode.

Step 2. Click Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > System Restore.

Step 3. Click on Restore my computer to an earlier time and click Next.

Step 4. After click Next, a window will open, you can select a date given in the left side to restore your computer.

Step 5. After select the date, click on System Checkpoint and click Next. When you will click on Next your computer will restart and start restore. After restore your windows will open again and your problem has solved.

If you use windows 7 and want to restore your computer click Start and type restore in the search box and you will see a list of options select System restore and follow the above steps.

Reading this article you can open the software using keyboard which you hide. This article is useful for those person who don't want to share a software with others. Step 1. First right click on the software icon which you want to hide and click Properties.

Step 2. After click Properties you will see many options, click on Shortcut and click Shortcut key box.

Step 3. In the Shortcut key box type any letter from your keyboard, if you will type P, it will automatically change it to Ctrl+Alt+P, click on Apply button and press ok.

Step 4. Now press Ctrl+Alt+button you select, your software will open without click on the software icon.

To hide the software icon follow the below steps

Step 1. Right click on software icon you want to hide and select Properties.

Step 2. After click on Properties, check the Hidden box and press ok.

Step 3. When you will press ok, you will see that your software icon has hidden. Now you can open the software using Shortcut key.

Like this you can hide software icon from others.

Solve Weather Gadget not Working Cannot Connect to Service

There are many problems in our windows which we face sometimes, such a problem Cannot connect to service message. When this message comes the gadget does't work.

C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Live\Services\Cache


Step 5. Right click on Cache file and click on Edit.

Step 6. In the toolbar, click on File and save this.


Now wait for about 5 minutes and open your Weather gadget you will see that this is working properly. Like this you can fix cannot connect to service problem.

Computer or My Documents Folder Opens Automatically at Windows Startup

Sometimes My documents folder of the computer opens automatically at windows startup, when we modify the registry incorrectly then we can face this problem.

If you want to fix this problem you need to modify the registry. Follow the below steps to solve this problem.

Backup the registry before you modify the registry.

Step 1. Click Start > Run, type regedit in the box and click ok.

Step 2. Navigate to the below line.

HKEY_ LOCAL_ MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon

Step 3. In right pane you will see the list of options, right click on Userinit and then click on Modify.

Step 4. Change the value of Userinit to

C:\WINDOWS\System32\userinit.exe

Step 5. Navigate to this line

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced

Step 5. In the right pane,  right click PersistBrowsers and then click Modify.

Step 7. In the Edit DWORD value box, type 0 under value data and then click ok.

Step 8. Close the registry editor and restart the computer.

How to Change Processor Name Permanently

In my last post I told you how to change processor's name temporarily but reading this article you can change processor's name permanently.
When user restarts his computer, the name reverted back to original which is obvious as each time Windows boots, it checks the connected hardware and updates the registry value automatically.

To change processor's name permanently, it was required to update the Processor Name String registry key every time windows starts.

You can change processor's name permanently by creating a registry key and placing a shortcut to it in the windows start up folder. To change processor name permanently follow the below steps.

Change the processor name permanently

Step 1. Open Notepad.

Step 2. Paste the below code in Notepad.

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\HARDWARE\DESCRIPTION\System\CentralProcessor\0]
"ProcessorNameString"="My Processor name 50000MHz"


To change the processor name, you can edit the "My Processor name 50000MHz". Also understand that \0 in the above code should only be present if windows store your processor name at that location. Open the registry editor and navigate to the below code to check whether or not to include \0.


Step 3. Click on File menu, click on Save as and select "All Types" in the Save as Type option. Save the file as name.reg.

You can replace name with another name you like.

Step 4. Create a new shortcut on your desktop. Enter regedit /S "Location of the .reg file" as the location of the item. For example, enter regedit /S "C:\name.reg" if your file is located in the root of C:\ drive.


Step 5. Copy the created shortcut file.


Step 6. Navigate to below lines if C:\ is your system drive.


In Winows XP

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Startup

In Windows 7, Windows Vista and Windows 8

C:\Users\User-Name\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Startup


Also remember that AppData is a hidden folder.

Step 7. Paste the copied file.


The registry file will execute each time when Windows starts and the Processor Name String will be modified each time. When you will restart your computer, you will see that the changes processor name is permanent.

Step 1. Click on Start > Run.

Step 2. Type "regedit" in the run box.

Step 3. Navigate to 

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/HARDWARE/DESCRIPTION/System/CentralProcessor/0. A list of options will appear on the right hand side.


Step 4. In the work area, double click on ProcessorNameString, and change its value according to your choice.

Step 5. Click ok.

Right click on My computer icon and select properties, you will see the name of processor has changed.
