Useful Tips to Improve Android Battery Life



Batteries are growing bigger with every passing year, but we are not seeing a huge benefit because our Android devices are demanding more. Try these tips to save battery power on an android.

1. Check battery usage


The first thing you can do to reduce battery drain is to turn off apps that are using it the most. We did experience fairly noticeable battery drain even when the device was not in use, but turning off the battery hogs will give you some extra time.


2. Use a dark colored background


If your phone has an AMOLED screen, use a dark colored background because AMOLED screen only illuminate the colored pixels. Black pixels are unlit, so the more black pixels you have, or the more darker pixels, the less battery you need to light them up.


3. Make apps darker


Using darker app backgrounds/themes and darker launcher themes will further prolog your battery life (If your device has an AMOLED screen).


4. Get rid of auto-brightness


Don't use display auto-brightness. It may sound good, but auto-brightness is usually way brighter than you really need. It's much better to manually set a low brightness level that is still comfortable, and then just bump it up when necessary. This is one of the main ways to improve your battery life as the biggest battery suckers.


5. Get rid of animations

Disable animations in your android phone to improve the battery life.

6. Turn off non-essential notifications

It seems as though almost every app now polls the internet in search of updates, news, messages and other information. When it finds something, the app may light up your screen and display a message, make your LED blink.


7. Keep the screen timeout short

Under your phone's display settings menu, you should find an option labeled "screen timeout" or something similar. Set your timeout to the shortest available time. On most Android phones, the minimum is 15 seconds.


8. Vibrate away

Switch off vibrate. Unless you really need that added awareness, turn off vibration.


9. Use battery saving mode

If your phone has battery or power saving mode or other battery management option, make use of it.


10. Disable Bluetooth if you don't use it

Disable Bluetooth to improve your Android phone battery life.


11. Deactivate Wi-Fi when not needed

Deactivate Wi-Fi when you don't need it.


12. Dump unnecessary home screen widgets and live wallpapers.



13. Don't leave apps running in the background

The ability to run more than one app at a time- is a powerful smartphone feature. It also burns a lot of energy so don't leave apps running in the background.


14. Update your apps

Applications often get updated to use less battery power, so you should make sure your apps are up to date. Even if you configured the phone for automatic updates, some apps still require that you manually install updates.
